“At Whiskey Library, we’re drawn to bottles that challenge convention—those rare pours that honor tradition while pushing it somewhere new. That’s exactly what Lux Row Distillers, a family-owned operation since 1958, has pulled off with their latest experiment in curiosity: a four-grain bourbon born from two distinct barrels.
Instead of blending grains in a single mash bill, Lux Row crafted a unique union. One barrel held a four-year wheated bourbon. The other, a four-year ryed bourbon. Aged separately, these two spirits were finally introduced to each other at 115 proof—a meeting point where sweet meets spice, youth meets depth.
The result? A bourbon that speaks clearly and confidently: notes of crisp apple and wildflower honey greet the nose, followed by a rich layer of chocolate malt, and finishing with a warm wave of clove and dry oak. It’s not Weller, and it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s the sound of a distillery asking the kind of question we love to answer: What if?
We were able to secure just a few cases—enough for the curious, not the crowd. At around $60, it’s a modest bet for a bourbon that’s anything but familiar. Not a new release, but absolutely deserving of your glass.
